Pet Portrait Commissions

I work from photographs and can create a realist or abstract style of your pet in soft pastels using prime quality brands and high quality fine art Hahnemühle velour paper or  Clairefontaine Pastelmat paper mounted on a hardboard for easy framing.

You can choose from 4 different standard sizes or inquire if a special size would be needed. All prices correspond to pets only. Allows only 1 pet on size A5, up to 2 pets on size A4, up to 3 pets on size A3 and up to 4 pets on A2.

If you choose a “With me” style an additional €50 will be charged and is possible starting at A4 size or larger. You can choose to have a background or not and any special requirements can likely be accommodated.

Once you decide on the style and size, please send me your order including one or more photos by clicking the Book your Pet Portrait button below. I will respond within 48 hours.

It is advisable that the picture be taken at his/her level in portrait mode if possible, with good natural lighting and no flash. A good quality picture allows me to have access to more detail and therefore guarantees a better more accurate painting. As long as it is a good quality picture any pose you desire can be done but it’s always better if we can see his/her eyes and facial features clearly.

Pet portrait commissions will take approximately three weeks to fulfill unless advised otherwise due to booking availability. Orders will be handled on a strict first come first served basis. Consult if you need an exception due to a strong reason and I will evaluate the possibility to help accelerate timings.

Sizes & Prices

(*) Prices above are for one pet only on A5 size, allows up to 2 pets on A4, up to 3 pets on A3 and up to 4 pets on A2. If you choose a “With me” style an additional €50 will be charged and it is possible on A4 size and larger. Sales tax and free shipping are included in the price.

Testimonials

What they mean to me…

Our furry friends usually come in to our lives at moments when we need them the most. At least that is my experience. Animals in general are kind, loving souls that express themselves without words but with plenty of other love expressions. Whether it be a fast wag of their tales, a warm and wet lick, a gentle electrifying purr, a flap of their wings or a soft rub against our skin, no one that has ever shared their lives with a furry friend can deny the love we feel for them.

The bond we make and the incredible connection they have. Their lives are way too short. I do understand that it needs to be that way. I will not pretend to challenge the way the Universe works. But I do know that it feels like it’s way shorter than we can accept.

I started pet portraits in honor of my baby Monchito. The sweetest, kindest, most loving soul I have come across. Who parted from my life surprisingly just one week before a life changing experience as it is moving to another continent. I am left now with his now lonely mischievous sister Luna who accompanies me everyday while working. It seems as though she is curious about what I do and is willing to let me do it until she decides it’s no longer in her interest. I love her. She brightens every one of my days.

If you feel the same way about your friend, and want to create a special keepsake that will last many years, I would be very happy to help you.

Care & Framing Recommendations

Before framing your pet portrait it should be stored flat and with glassine paper on top to protect from smudges. I recommend keeping it in the glassine protective shield it was sent in until you take it to your framer.

Even though a fixative is used to keep pastel dust in place there may be particles that can fall if the piece is moved abruptly or if it is touched directly. Avoid touching or padding the paint and try to keep it away from  children until it is framed.

For pastel drawings it is recommended to frame with a visible mount or an invisible slip in the border and  have glass on top for protection. Preferably the glass should not be in direct contact with the painting.

If you prefer to frame without a glass on top DO NOT be tempted to touch it or let others touch it.  Be sure to keep it away from liquids or cleaning sprays. Avoid humid places and DO NOT vacuum or dust the image directly.

If you decide to frame it with a store bought frame, use one that has a mount and make sure the glass will not touch the painting.
